After a long and arduous wait for FIFA 12 to arrive I have compiled and review the greatest football (or soccer if you prefer) games of all time. The games chosen have been selected for various reasons, you may agree with my choices, you may not, but chances are that every ones list will be different in some way shape or form.

1. FIFA series
Way back in 1993 when the first FIFA game was released the graphics and player animation was a million miles away from the slick player movements and facial details we now expect. You simply moved a blob around a green blocky pitch. Looking back and comparing to our games we have now, you say to yourself what were we thinking. But knowing we had hours on hours of fun that's what made FIFA for me! Over the years what's got better? Off the pitch, the face and the appearance of the menu gets better every year, and much faster than its sluggish old self. FIFA introduced a manager mode and ultimate team mode lately and that seems to be having a great impact on FIFA.On the pitch, graphics and the game engine has improved a massive amount. What's got worse? My opinion nothing has got worse just needs tweaking and updating, for example wind control and ball control is not that realistic yet but I'm sure they will soon. Over the years you can tell they have jumped a big gap, you can actually tell who you're playing as and it seems you're watching TV.

2. Championship manager
Championship Manager is a series of international football management Games and was first released in 1992. The release of the first version of the game was not an outstanding success due to people's ignorance of this sort of game, and sales were steady rather than astronomical. However, this soon changed and today the renamed Football Manager franchise now boasts an army of dedicated fans, myself included, whom literally live, breathe and sleep Championship Manager (much to the chagrin of close family members, friends and generally anyone who knows you!). For me, it was Championship Manager 99/00 which really kick-started my passion. The simplicity of managing your favourite team was a breath of fresh air; being able to bring in those star players that you wish your manager would sign whilst nurturing your favourite academy players was a big part of my growing up. Nowadays the series has reached an incredible depth of detail, with the in-game scouting network being that detailed and accurate it's used by professional clubs with lower budgets to scout potential transfer targets as well as opposition players and staff. With the game of football constantly evolving, and the Championship Manager series evolving with it, I can see only a golden era for this type of football strategy game- And I love it!

3. PES Series
Pro Evolution soccer is a brilliant game but has always been behind FIFA, except for one year, Pro Evolution Soccer 3, i was blown away with the improvements and you could see the creators put all their effort in to this game to make it bigger and better. Pro Ev 3 made full use of everything the PlayStation had to offer with graphics and player movements that we realistic and smooth. You no longer felt like you were in an arcade playing on a joystick, you had more enjoyment you got from FIFA, I had so much enjoyment from this game i spent my life on it when it was released. But in my own opinion this was the highest point in the series and declined from PES5 onwards.

4. Sensible Soccer
Sensible Soccer was one of the first football games to really hit the mark. Whilst the graphics don't look to have come on that far since pong when compared against the likes of FIFA 12, back in the early nineties those small blobs were cutting edge. The main attraction of Sensible Soccer however was not in the graphics; it was the outstanding game play. The fact that anyone could pick up a controller and play the game to a reasonable standard, but the game still left room for serious gamers to develop and become masters. But best of all, you even had the proper player names. No need to cheer for Bryan Goggs on Sensible Soccer.

Summary
In the opinion of this writer, despite the outstanding qualities of all the games, FIFA stand head and shoulders above the rest. First released in 1993, it has continually evolved and whilst Pro Evolution may have overtaken it in some gamers hearts for a couple of years in the late 2000's, it is now firmly back on top. The new FIFA 12 game is set to smash all records and leave its rivals desperately trying to mimic.

Which of the two latest installments of the Call of Duty franchise is the best first person shooter video game? Call of Duty: Black Ops was released on November 9, 2010 and has grossed more than 650 million dollars in just 5 days after its release date. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will be released on November 8, 2011 and hopes to also garner the same amount of sales or even best that of Black Ops. Both video games are definitely action packed blockbuster experiences, but the only thing left to know now is whether the Call of Duty fans will welcome what Modern Warfare 3 will offer.
The two Call of Duty video games are set in different times. Black Ops begins in the 1960s where its storyline takes place in locations such as Russia, Cuba, Hong Kong, Laos, Kazakhstan, Vietnam, and the Arctic Circle. You can choose from a variety of game modes such as its campaign which has a very interesting and historical storyline; multiplayer mode which you can play online and on a LAN, and a zombie survival mode. The weapons used in this installment are a variety of handguns, machine guns, and explosives that have all been used during the Cold War.

Modern Warfare 3 takes place in the modern day spanning the globe. You will see action in India, Dubai, Paris, London, and even in Manhattan. It has a very compelling storyline as seen in some videos of its campaign that were initially leaked on YouTube. Other game modes are also available such as the multiplayer and of course, a zombie survival mode. You should have no problem mowing down enemies since all the weapons in your arsenal are the most modern weapons used in the world today.
The campaign of Black Ops revolves around a SOG and CIA operative named Alex Mason. Flashbacks of his past experience during the Cold War each come back to him as he is questioned by certain CIA operatives. These flashbacks are then retold as you play Alex Mason reliving those events. You'll be thrown into different kinds of missions from several time periods involving sabotage, stealth, raid, and infiltration. You'll be using weapons from machine guns to crossbows to defeat your enemies and accomplish your mission objectives. You won't only be working on dry land; you'll also be making your way through jungles and snow.

Modern Warfare 3 stands up to Black Ops with its campaign. You get to play 4 characters wherein you will fight as a Delta Force operative and a new Call of Duty character named Frost, as a SAS operative, a Russian Federal Protective Service agent, an AC-130 gunner, and as a tank gunner. This installment from the Call of Duty Series begins right after where Modern Warfare 2 ends. Russia has just attacked the United States through the Hudson River in New York. You'll be on the edge of your seat with the game's 15 globetrotting missions. This video game will definitely make you want more.

It is almost guaranteed that you and your friends will discover memorable times with both multiplayer game modes. Black Ops offers a great shooting multiplayer game that gives a player many chances to win. Call of Duty points have been added along with the ranking option for enhancing your gear. Instead of just waiting to get promoted so you can unlock things, CoD points allow you to get hold of certain perks and accessories for the beginning stages. Rankings or promotions are still important because it unlocks more useful and powerful things than what the CoD points offer. You can obtain more CoD points from in-game features such as contracts and wagers. These are challenges and deals that you make that will provide you with more points.
And before entering yourself in multiplayer with experienced gamers, you can choose to play in Combat Training first. It is a basic tutorial about the maps and weapons of the game where you can practice everything without the fear of continuously dying (solo, bots, friends and bots). It somewhat replaced the deathstreaks feature that provided not so good gamers with certain power-ups in Modern Warfare 2. The game has also made 3 categories for gear which are lethal, tactical, and equipment. More advanced killstreak benefits can now be used such as gunship attacks, remote exploding cars, napalm strikes, and much more. Limited edition special weapons are also made available in care packages such as the death machine and the grim reaper. And lastly, additional perks are available for the purpose of getting the upper hand such as sabotaging your enemy's perks.

The multiplayer mode of Modern Warfare 3 offers a more balanced game play for everyone because of the rewards for different play styles. Killstreaks have been renamed as pointstreaks where earning rewards will not only be based in killing your enemies for a number of consecutive times but will also be in completing certain game objectives. Pointstreaks offer 3 packages that you can use based on how you play. These packages are the assault package, the support package, and the specialist package.

The assault package is for those players whose play style revolves in getting up-close to their enemies and like to deal direct damage. Rewards range from seeing your enemies in the mini-map for 3 straight kills to being the Osprey gunner that delivers the care packages when you kill your enemies 17 consecutive times. The support package is for those whose play style is more of a support, no kidding. The streak doesn't end even if the player is killed and the rewards you obtain from it supports your team overall. 4 kills will give your team the ability to locate your enemies on the mini-map and killing 18 enemies will provide your team with EMP, juggernaut recon, or an escort airdrop. The specialist package is for more experienced gamers whose rewards come in the form of enhanced perks. These rewards are given to you when you kill 2, 4, and 6 enemies consecutively while having 8 kills gives you all the rewards that you've chosen. And lastly, the deathstreaks have been returned in this installment of the CoD series.

The weapons offered in the game total 40 which are all being used and tested by Special Forces today. There is a new feature that offers you the ability to unlock attachments, reticules, camouflages, and improve weapon proficiency for your weapon through leveling up. Some of the weapon proficiencies offered are reduced recoil when firing or kick, and reduced swaying of your weapon while aiming down your sights or stability. Attachments vary with different weapon classes regarding their type and how many attachments you can add.

Modern Warfare 3 may not be out yet, but overall gameplay appear to have all been improved. Black Ops has made record sales in November 2010 because of its different gameplay from the earlier CoD games. Which Call of Duty installment does indeed stand over the other? You are constantly assaulted by hordes of enemies, restricted to standing in place while shooting, and forced to make do with the limited ammo and health you find scattered throughout the levels. In the end, Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition is easily the definitive version of the game for obvious reasons. It includes all of the features of the original and throws in all the DLC plus Move support for the Ps3 version, so you can experience the game in a different way. If you already own the standard version of the game, there's not much here to justify purchasing the Gold Edition outside of Move compatibility because all of the add-on content is available for practically the same price.

The world is in danger. Aliens have ravaged the planet, and many who have survived the destruction are dying from contamination. Chaos reigns, and defeat seems all but inevitable. Man's last hope rests with one person, a marine named Alcatraz. When his marine company falls under attack, Alcatraz is saved by Prophet, a man wearing a bio suit that gives him incredible power. Prophet is at his limit though. Using the suit has transformed him, and left him a virtual moving corpse. His mission is dire though, and when he finds Alcatraz, he passes this incredible suit, and his mission, onto him.

Crysis 2 is a first person shooter, and pits you against both aliens and humans as you follow outlined objectives to save the world. There are many different types of enemies you will encounter, including armored juggernauts, small alien bugs, and even mechanical monstrosities that will push you to the limits in defeating them.

Your suit is an incredible piece of technology, making its user a one man army. Its capabilities are far more advanced than any other piece of technology on the planet. The structure is able to change in highly useful ways, such as stealth camouflage, nearly impenetrable armor, and super human strength. In addition, the suit is like a living organism, able to change and evolve when coming into contact with other organisms and technology. Each time you kill an alien, you can pick up spores from them. These little spores allow you to customize some of the additional abilities provided by the suit. There are four categories you can upgrade, but you can only have one perk in each category active at one time.

Your battles will take you through a ravaged New York city, among other highly detailed and lush environments. Environments are somewhat destructible, and using the super strength the suit provides you with, you can even do things like kick cars around, and fall from the tops of high buildings and survive using the fortified armor.

This game has some really awesome cut scenes. As you start each mission, your objectives are lined out for you to see where you are, and where you're headed. The truly awesome cut scenes though are the ones that show your suit evolving, and changing on the atomic level. I was highly impressed the graphics, and how great this game looked both in and out of cut scenes.

The combat is fast paced and has a good amount of challenge. Different enemies have different weak points, and there is a wide arsenal of weapons to defeat all the enemies you encounter. Each weapon is further customizable with optional parts you can change whenever you want, giving you further versatility in every situation. In addition, the suit gives you the ability to scan the environment, marking enemies so they show up on your map, and giving you tactical advice so you can deal with each battle in whatever way suits your personal combat style.

There is a lot of variance in the missions, keeping you on your toes as you decide how to reach each objective. Some operations are more geared toward stealth, while others are full on fire fights. Each mission offers something unique, and will be thoroughly enjoyed. Whether you enjoy you enjoy stealth killing enemies, or running in with guns blazing, there are situations in each mission for everyone to enjoy.

The controls are great for a first person shooter. It follows a pretty standard configuration as far as most games go. Your abilities are easy to engage whenever you need, leaving you free to focus on the battle at hand rather than what buttons you need to push. Camera movement is nearly flawless as well.

First person shooters aren't my favorite genre, but Crysis 2 is a lot of fun to play. With many unique game play elements, a good story, and fast paced action, you'll be destroying the alien invaders all day long. I would highly recommend this game to anyone who likes first person shooters, and even to those who rarely play them. Crysis 2 is definitely worth a play through for nearly any gamer.
